Standards
Our aim is to enable youngsters to develop basic and (where relevant) advanced cricket skills so that they can progress to higher levels of cricket, but the primary objective is for them to enjoy their cricket in a happy and pleasant environment. In addition to skills and techniques they will be taught teamwork, fair play and experience a culture of good behaviour. To these ends we have developed codes of conduct for our coaches, parents/carers, and for our junior players to which we seek parental commitment.
Transition to Senior Cricket
One of the Junior Section’s primary aims is to inspire youngsters to go on to play cricket in their adult life. Making the transition into senior cricket on a Saturday or Sunday is a big step in any young player's development and can be very daunting. ECB guidelines state that generally juniors cannot take part in open-age cricket until they are in Year 8 (under 13s level). From that age onwards Hawks CC will take into consideration the ability and the potential safety of the player as well as other considerations as outlined by the ECB Guidelines for Junior Players in Open Age Cricket. Juniors transitioning into adult cricket will most likely start in the 3rd team. From there we will ensure that there is a plan in place to ensure that they are given appropriate and adequate chance to shine and progress. If juniors are asked to play in adult cricket it will not be just to make up the numbers. At Hawks CC we will do our utmost to manage the step up in a manner that puts players and parents minds at ease and makes the whole experience enjoyable and worthwhile.
